Thomas Ussary Memorial Car Show

The 5th Annual Thomas Ussary Memorial Car Show at Eagle Point High School is on April 26th. Registration is from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. and the show is from 8:00 to 2:00 p.m.

David from RPM is one of the organizers and he was able to have snowmobiles included in this year's show. Bring your snowmobile to show off whether it is a custom, antique or you just want to promote snowmobiling. Or you can come on down to support the show by checking out what is there including a poker run, raffles, engine blow up and swap meet.

The money raised goes towards scholarships for kids to get technical training on motorcycle, snowmobile and automobile repairs and also to send kids to the National Skills USA competition. If you want more information, give David a call at 944-2924 or call Matt Boren at 830-6397.

Membership Dues for the 2007/2008 Season

CONGRATULATIONS!! We have reached 216 family memberships. Our goal for this year was 200 memberships and our goal for next year is 300 memberships. It's a tough goal but it is not unreachable as our club in the past has exceeded 400 members.

But we can't do it without you! Please continue to help us get the word out to other snowmobilers the importance of membership. You can use this document that outlines the benefits of membership that you can share with your family, friends and neighbors. You can also give them a dues statement by clicking here and printing out a copy for them.

General Club Meeting & Leftover BBQ

When: April 1st
Time: 6:00 p.m. dinner and social, 7:00 p.m. meeting
Where: D & S Harley

Our next general meeting is on April 1st. The doors open at 6:00 as we have a "leftover" BBQ before the meeting begins. We will be serving food from 6:00 to 7:00. If you would like, you may bring a dessert to share but it is not necessary to bring anything.

This is our last meeting for the year and we will be having an important vote regarding the club dues. Come out to enjoy food, fun and to also have your voice heard by voting!! After all, this is your club!

Candlelighters Ride

Mark your calendar now for Saturday, March 15th. The Candlelighter's children and their families and Michele will be coming up to Thousand Springs Snopark and will be given rides on snowmobiles. For those of you who do not know about Candlelighters, this is a non-profit group who assists kids with cancer and help their families deal with the illness. They help the families to deal with the situation and also help with some financial aid.

The families have gone through a lot, battling the illness all year long. So when you see the smiles on all of their faces, you know that they forget all that is wrong and truly enjoy themselves, at least for this one day! The club members hold this special event yearly to try to help the kids and their families forget the tribulations they go through during the rest of the year.

We will begin the rides at approximately 10:30 A.M. These kids will keep getting in line time after time for a ride. It's really amazing! So if you are willing to help, please show up to give rides to the kids and their families, or just to enjoy the activities. This will be a day the kids and their families will not soon forget and hopefully, neither will you!

If anyone has any extra helmets, please bring them with you, especially ones for smaller children. Also, we will need a couple of tow behind sleds capable of safely towing the smaller children, as some of them are a little afraid to actually ride on the snowmobiles.

We will be serving a lunch of hot dogs and hamburgers to all who attend this function. Hopefully, we can get Travis "The French Fry Guy" to be there again this year and perform his magic! He was a great hit last year with all!! Please bring your favorite side dish or a dessert.

If you have any questions please call Dennis or Barbara Hamlin at (541) 582-0441 or email DHamlin@Go2UTI.com.

It's one of our favorite events and we hope to see you all there on this very special day!

Playday

I think for once we will have enough snow at Lake of the Woods to have a real playday! Keep March 8th open to come up and enjoy our steak and chicken feed and the playday events. I will tell more later when I know more!!! As always, bring a side dish to share.

No Host Ride

Our next no host ride is scheduled for March 29th. We will meet at the Hamaker parking area (Claude Lewis Trailhead) at 9:30 so we can be prepared to move out at 10:00. We plan to ride the loop to the Diamond Lake Pizza Parlor, have lunch and return to Hamaker. It promises to be a fun filled day!

Dirty Jobs

One of our members, Sheyla Hildebrand, mentioned in a meeting in December that her brother who has a cranberry farm would be on the Discovery Channel show, Dirty Jobs. Well, it will be on February 5th at 9:00 p.m. for the first showing. But I KNOW that you all will be at the general meeting and pie auction that night but don't despair because it will be shown several items after that including February 9th at 12:00 p.m., February 12th at 8:00 p.m. and many other times. To find the times, go to this link .

Check out our Commercial!!

Some of you may have seen our commercial already. With the generous assistance of Charter Communications, we were able to complete a project to have a commercial on the air promoting our club. If you don't have Charter, you won't see the commercial on air. I have attached a low quality version of this commercial for those of you who want to see it and don't have Charter. If you have Charter, you can see it on the following Charter channels: COM, ESPN2, FSNW, FX, MTV, SPEED, SPIKE, TRAVEL and VS. Enjoy!

Support ATV Riders

Please take the time to email your legislators regarding land use issues as it relates to off road vehicles (dirt bikes, ATV's and snowmobiles). This link will take you to a site that will give you the names and emails of your legislators so you can make a difference now, not after it is too late.

Single Riders List

We have a list of riders who would like to get out and ride more but don't always have someone to go with. There are all levels of riders and not all are weekend riders. If you fit in that category or if you just want to meet new people, GET ON THE LIST! For more information or to get on the list, contact Kim Greenwaldt. The information on the list is only shared with others on the list.
